August 17, 2011 SOUNDS ⁄  A JEAN-PISSING OLD TIME

PISSED JEANS SPURN OUR PASSIONATE ADVANCES. OUCH, THAT SHIT IS ICE FUCKING COLD…

We only know one guy with matching Tweetie Bird tattoos on his eyelids and a penchant for shuffleboots – and that’s South Africa’s most bi-winning asshole, aka The Good Count. After wooing Cerebral Ballzy and Odd Future with his retarded interview style, how will he fare with Pissed Jeans, Sub Pop’s funnest band? Well, it helps if you imagine the band as Al Qaeda. And him as a novelty erotic Mohammed cake.

J& A

The first time I heard Pissed Jeans (on the recommendation of a weird bastard who in turn got turned onto your False Jesii II video by his 13 year-old nephew), I thought… by Job… it sounds like Steve Albini had “red wine type” man sex with Ministry on a wild Mandrax bender and you guys were the love child. I was fucking mesmerised!
Okay.

Who has played a role in how the Pissed Jeans sound has developed – it’s like homeless person dance music! Wild and free, with an adorable level of grit to it.
It’s not like homeless person dance music. What’s wrong with you?

Why does your frontman dress like he’s in an early 90s surf video? I am completely out of touch with fashion and such. I actually only recently discovered what a hipster is!
Early 90s surf video? You are completely out of touch with more than just fashion.

Ok …fantasy …CARTOON BAND?!
Bugs Bunny on drums, Beavis on guitar. They sound like Mecca Normal.

What would you sound like?!
Do you have to yell?

Brutality level from one to GG Allin?!
Two.

I am absolutely obsessed with the two music videos I can find on Googtube. Both are very different in their own way. They really stand out from the plethora of shit that has become music video standard … in my humble (but RIGHT) opinion.

SUB QUESTION 8.1
False Jessi II – who shot it? How heavily were you guys involved creatively?
Our friend Shawn Brackbill shot it. We were fairly involved with it.

8.2. Ice Cream – how did you manage to make it freak my old bones out as much as the first time I watched Sound Garden’s infamous Black Hole Sun video?
I have no idea.

What’s next on the horizon guys? More albums? A career in leather goods? Film?
More albums, certainly, although answering these moronic questions has certainly been a band highlight.

Lastly … if the whole music thing had failed, what would have probably been doing individually?
To be honest, I feel like a bit of a failure right now.
