PORK’S NOT DEAD: MICACHU / ONE PIG RMX

As Matthew Herbert’s porky protest album One Pig gets yet another play on the Juke stereo, our issue’s theme slides further from weird to outright depraved. With Micachu’s One Pig remix EP near release; we’re sweating on the chances of our next issue ever making it to print. If the EP’s latest serving is anything to go by, we’re going to fall seriously foul of some draconian morality laws.

While One Pig’s sample-based chronicle of a pig’s life from pen to platter was possibly a step too avant-garde, Micachu’s remixes inject some much-needed rhythm and structure to Herbert’s fry-up of squeals and grunts. Her choppy edit of August sounds like a DJ Screw / bacon sarnie collab; it’s tasty, but we can’t promise it’s kosher.
