February 27, 2012 SIGHTS ⁄  JUKE TO THIS

JUKE TO THIS: Filmmaker Sonali Aggarwal has tuned in to the recent juke revival to chronicle the publicity-shy quarter-century of its existence in her hour-long online documentary, From Jack to Juke: 25 Years of Ghetto House.

It’s a ghetto-fab educational experience, soundtracked by DJ Slugo and topped up with candid interviews from Chicago’s leading DJs and label heads – and it’ll make you an expert on everything from the origins of the name, to Chi-town club politics. But we can’t promise it’ll make you a footwork maestro, and if your hammy attempts result in a face plant, we’re not interested in your insurance claims either.
