PUSSY RIOT: CHICK GUEVARA

Pussy Riot are a 10-woman strong collective of militant Russian feminists with an anti-Putin agenda. They’ve made headlines lately, owing to a combo of ballsy guerilla protests demanding socio-political reform and day-glo balaclavas straight off the mine-strewn catwalks of Syria fashion week.

On February 21st, six Pussy Riot members were arrested at a protest in Moscow’s Christ the Saviour cathedral (pub quiz fact: the world’s tallest Orthodox church). Two of them, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhin, are still in custody awaiting a late-April court appearance and have gone on hunger strike, demanding the right to see their infant children. This video, filmed at the papal protest, is a reminder of what punk was like before it became a subversive cider-swilling tourist attraction in EuroDisney’s Camden.
